Botswana - The Elephant Corridor - A future of co-existence for Humanity and Elephant
CONSERVATION WILDLIFE ART
Botswana is a land of breathtaking contrasts, where the lush waterways of the Okavango Delta meet the vast, untamed expanse of the Kalahari Desert. It is a country defined by its wild beauty and home to some of the most pristine ecosystems on Earth. With a focus on The Eastern Okavango Panhandle, which is more than just a landscape — it is a part of the beating heart of Africa's last great wildlife stronghold. It is here, that the ancient ELEPHANT CORRIDOR exists. It hosts 13 villages of approx 15,000 subsistence farmers and families and now, as before, down through the ages, its an important lifeline, for the movement and mingling of over 15,000 wild elephants. So here on The Corridor is where co-existence solutions are needed.
But let’s be clear—no rewilding is required here. This is the wild. The mission is to keep it that way. Unlike other places where nature is being restored, Botswana’s ELEPHANT CORRIDOR is in a natural state, already thriving, teeming with life in its purest form. What it needs is protection, awareness, and the right solutions to ensure that both elephants and humanity, now in higher numbers, can continue to coexist as they have done for past centuries.
By supporting this vital cause through my artwork and joining and subscribing to this substack, we have the chance to help ensure that Botswana remains a wildland for elephants and that its people benefit from the immense value these magnificent beings bring to their joint homeland. With the right solutions ensuring co-existance, Botswana's true diamonds, the Elephants, can fortify Botswana’s future, sustaining subsistence farming, opening up education, creating economic opportunities, conservation-based livelihoods, and a legacy for generations to come.
Follow me weekly, as I take you into the depth of The Okavango Delta, The Makgadikgadi Salt Pans, and the Kalahari Desert to discover incredible landscapes of wildlife and wildlands through my eyes, with ART, descriptive essays and articles.
